Ranges from maintaining building structures, equipment, landscaping, grounds, and parking lots to construction of facilities including in 2012 a 9,350 square foot office building. Since 1976, the tribal government’s Maintenance Department has been providing structural and equipment/systems operations, maintenance, repair, and alterations for tribally-owned buildings as well as maintenance for grounds and parking areas. Tigua Enterprises is a business unit of the Tigua tribe and shares a tribal bond with the Maintenance Department. Tigua Enterprises has the full backing and support of the Maintenance Department, benefits directly from their services, and has direct, immediate access to their staff and expertise in providing 35 years of services. The intent of Tigua Enterprises is to continue to focus on providing facility maintenance and janitorial services to facilities across the country. Worthy of note is the addition of the Wiley building O&M contract extension, and the Franconia warehouse O&M contract. The tasks within these include HVAC, lighting, Grounds maintenance, fire suppression system support, and janitorial support. The annual Preventive Maintenance (PM) and small repairs. There is also the option for additional Requests for Work Authorization (RWA) under each contract that provides the vehicle to include additional work and/or large cost repairs or maintenance. A great example of this is the annual RWAs that we see under the Wiley and Franconia building for snow removal resulting in extra billable man hours, etc. providing additional revenue to Tigua.
Perform facility and ground maintenance on over 140,000 square feet of business buildings (not including 300 housing units) on over 15 miles of grounds. Our ground maintenance crews perform asphalt repair and maintenance; mowing; trimming; irrigation; plant and tree maintenance, certified herbicide/insecticide applicator; and snow removal. Tigua’ s facilities personnel install, service, and maintain geothermal generators; provide additional services in janitorial/custodial, HVAC, electrical; plumbing and general construction.
Summary of Future Plan
In the 4th Quarter (2014) Tigua Enterprises was working to completed the negotiations and award of 4 facility Operations and Maintenance contracts and 3 construction contracts.. Over the next five years, the company will see the graduation of Tigua Enterprises from the 8(a) program to the new 8(a) subsidiary called Tigua Facility Services. This will enable Tigua, Inc. to continue to utilize the benefits of the 8(a) program and continue to provide revenue back to the tribal community.
The focus of Tigua Enterprises is to develop a greater market-pursuing possibilities with overseas government contracts in Europe, Middle East, and Korea. The goal is to eventually have a Tigua contract in each operating area where there is U.S. military presence. The organization will also strive to increase local services to El Paso companies. In this pursuit Tigua Enterprises / Construction won 3 construction projects and performed sub-contractor work on 2 park projects all within the El Paso area. Local area contracts will provide additional employment opportunities to tribal members living here on/near the reservation. Tigua Enterprises is growing in the (IT) with the addition of the Colorado Army National Guard statewide metro-ethernet, emergency responder and VoIP network structure, and several small infrastructure contracts for the city of Socorro. Throughout the 4th quarter we will continue to search for opportunities in the DoD test and evaluation arena to capitalize on the experience within the corporate staff.
